Career Navigators Community Guidelines Behavioural expectations inside Career Communities
Career Communities is for people helping one another move forward. Share useful experience, ask thoughtful questions, make professional connections and create spaces where members feel safe to participate. These Guidelines apply to Community Profiles, Connections, one-to-one messages, Personal Networks, Career Circles, posts, comments, replies, reactions, mentions, invitations, notifications and, where available, attachments or shared Career Navigators content. They apply alongside the Career Navigators Acceptable Use Policy and the Terms that govern your account.
Before you post, message or invite someone, ask: • Is it accurate and genuinely mine to share? • Is it useful, relevant and appropriate for this audience? • Does it respect the other person's privacy, boundaries and choices? • Would I be comfortable saying it in a professional setting?
Understand the Community spaces Different spaces have different audiences. Check the audience before sharing and do not assume that permission to see something includes permission to copy or redistribute it. Space Who can participate Expected behaviour Community Profile Signed-in users, according to your visibility choices Share only the professional information you want others to discover. Keep it accurate and current. Connections Two users after mutual acceptance A connection is permission to connect, not permission to market, pressure or repeatedly contact. Personal Network Invited members only Treat the space as private. Respect its purpose, membership and the confidentiality of what members share. Career Circle Members allowed by the Circle access settings Stay relevant to the Circle's career focus and follow any reasonable additional rules set for the space. One-to-one message The sender and recipient Use messages for wanted, professional communication. Stop when asked and do not evade a block.
Contribute constructively Good participation helps another person understand, decide, prepare or progress. • Be relevant. Keep posts and messages connected to careers, education, skills, work and the stated purpose of the space. • Add context. Explain whether you are sharing personal experience, an opinion, a job lead or information you have verified. • Give useful feedback. Be specific, considerate and focused on work or ideas rather than personal criticism. • Make room for others. Avoid dominating discussions, repeating the same point or creating fake engagement. • Correct mistakes. If you discover that something you shared is wrong or out of date, correct or remove it promptly.
Treat people with respect Career Communities includes people with different backgrounds, experiences, identities and points of view. • Disagree with ideas without insulting, humiliating or intimidating the person expressing them. • Do not bully, harass, threaten, sexually harass or encourage others to target a member. • Do not attack, exclude or demean people because of a protected characteristic or personal vulnerability. • Do not weaponise Community tools through coordinated abuse, false reports, dogpiling or retaliatory exclusion. • Respect names, pronouns and reasonable accessibility needs when they are made known to you. Respectful disagreement and honest discussion of difficult workplace experiences are welcome. Context matters, but professional criticism must not become personal abuse, defamation or disclosure of confidential information.
Be authentic and accurate Trust depends on members representing themselves, their experience and opportunities honestly. • Use your own identity and do not impersonate another person, employer, recruiter, institution or professional body. • Do not invent or materially exaggerate qualifications, work history, achievements, references, affiliations or authority. • Describe opportunities, events, mentoring, services and commercial interests clearly and accurately. • Distinguish personal opinion from verified information, and disclose relevant conflicts of interest or incentives. • Do not present AI-generated material as independently verified or as another identifiable person's work.
Respect consent and boundaries A profile, connection or shared Community space is not blanket permission to contact, recruit or sell to someone. • Make invitations truthful and relevant. Do not pressure someone to connect, join a space or continue a conversation. • Stop contacting a person when asked. Do not use another account or channel to evade a block or removal. • Do not use Community features for romantic or sexual solicitation. • Do not send spam, chain messages, repetitive invitations or unsolicited bulk promotions. • Commercial recommendations must be relevant, transparent and permitted by the space; Career Communities is not primarily a lead-generation channel.
Protect privacy and confidence Share the minimum information needed for the conversation and respect the audience chosen by the person who shared it. • Do not post another person's contact details, identity documents, health or financial information, private messages or other sensitive information without authority. • Do not upload another person's CV, application, reference, assessment or employment record without permission. • Do not disclose confidential employer, client, educational or commercially sensitive information. • Do not copy, screenshot or redistribute private Network, Circle or message content outside its intended audience without authority. • Do not scrape, harvest, profile, sell or use Community information for advertising, surveillance, background screening or unrelated decisions. Audience controls reduce visibility but cannot guarantee that another member will not copy what you share. Avoid posting anything that could put you or someone else at unnecessary risk.
Share opportunities and advice responsibly Job leads, mentoring and professional advice can be valuable, but they can also be used to exploit people. • Share genuine opportunities and identify the employer, organiser or source wherever reasonably possible. • Do not post discriminatory, misleading, unlawful or fake jobs, internships, mentoring offers, training or events. • Never operate an advance-fee, recruitment, visa, investment, training or work-from-home scam. • Do not ask for payment, passwords, financial credentials, identity documents or unnecessary sensitive information as a condition of considering someone for an opportunity. • Make clear when advice is based on personal experience and encourage members to verify high-impact legal, financial, medical or immigration information with an appropriate professional.
Protect users aged 16 and 17 Career Navigators is for people aged 16 or over. Members aged 16 or 17 receive additional safeguards and must never be targeted for age-inappropriate or exploitative contact. • Do not request unnecessary personal information or pressure a younger member to disclose their location, school, contact details or private circumstances. • Do not ask them to conceal a conversation from a parent or guardian or move it to a less protected channel. • Do not direct adult, sexual, high-pressure commercial or predatory content or approaches towards them. • Any proposed in-person contact must have a legitimate professional purpose and appropriate safeguarding arrangements.
Use AI assistance responsibly Where AI assistance is available in a Community feature, it is there to help you draft, summarise or communicate. You remain responsible for what you share. • Review AI-assisted content for accuracy, tone, confidentiality and fairness before posting it. • Do not submit information about another person unless you have the right to process it in that way. • Do not use AI to impersonate, deceive, harass, defame or fabricate evidence about someone. • Do not rely on AI output as the sole basis for a decision that significantly affects another person's employment, education or legal rights.
Responsibilities of Network and Circle organisers Members who create or help manage a Personal Network or Career Circle should set the tone and use their role fairly. • Describe the space's purpose, audience and any additional rules clearly. • Apply reasonable rules consistently and do not retaliate against someone for raising a genuine concern. • Use member information only to manage the space and do not export or repurpose it without authority. • Escalate serious safety, safeguarding, fraud or illegality concerns through Career Navigators reporting tools rather than investigating them publicly. • Do not claim to act for Career Navigators or Zevancer Ltd unless expressly authorised. 11 Report concerns and use your controls If an interaction feels unsafe, deceptive or seriously inappropriate, you do not need to resolve it alone. • Use the available controls to decline an invitation, leave a space, mute or block a member. • Use the reporting tools to report content, messages, behaviour or accounts that may breach these Guidelines or the Acceptable Use Policy. • Give enough information to explain the concern, but do not circulate illegal or highly sensitive material more widely than necessary. • If someone may be in immediate danger, contact the emergency services in the relevant country. Career Navigators is not an emergency service.
How moderation works We do not routinely read private messages. Authorised personnel may review a reported message and relevant surrounding context when reasonably necessary to investigate a report, protect users, secure the Service, respond to a support request or comply with law. Depending on context, intent, severity, risk and recurrence, we may reduce visibility, remove content, issue guidance or a warning, limit features, remove a member from a space, suspend an account or terminate it. We may act immediately where necessary to protect people, evidence or the Service. Significant moderation sanctions are made or reviewed by authorised people and are not imposed solely by AI. Where appropriate, we will explain a significant decision and provide a route to request review. We may limit what we disclose where an explanation could create a safety or security risk, reveal another person's confidential information, prejudice an investigation or conflict with law.
Relationship with other rules These Guidelines explain the behaviour expected inside Career Communities. The Acceptable Use Policy contains the fuller list of prohibited uses and enforcement powers. The applicable Terms and Privacy Policy also continue to apply. If documents conflict, the Terms govern the contractual relationship and any mandatory protection required by applicable law continues to apply. We may update these Guidelines as Career Communities, safety risks or legal requirements change. We will show the current effective date and provide notice where applicable law requires it.
