Cookie Policy How Career Navigators uses cookies and similar technologies
-
About this Policy This Cookie Policy explains how Zevancer Ltd, trading as Career Navigators (we, us or our), uses cookies and similar technologies on the Career Navigators website, application and related services, including Career Communities (together, the Service). It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally. This Policy applies to users in the United Kingdom and the United States. Some rights and consent requirements depend on where you are located. Where a third-party site or service opens separately—such as a payment, social sign-in, job listing or LinkedIn page—that third party’s own privacy and cookie information also applies.
-
What cookies and similar technologies are Cookies are small text files stored by a website in your browser. Some last only for the browsing session; others remain until they expire or you delete them. First-party cookies are set for the Career Navigators domain. Third-party cookies are set by another service or domain. This Policy also covers technologies that store information on, or read information from, your device. These can include browser local storage, session storage, authentication tokens, software development kits, pixels and similar identifiers. We use the word cookies to cover these technologies unless the context requires otherwise.
-
Our current approach At launch, our use falls into the categories below. • Strictly necessary technologies support sign-in, session continuity, security, fraud prevention, load management, payment and other functions you request. • Functional storage may remember settings that you ask the Service to retain, such as interface, accessibility or notification choices. If a preference is not essential, we will obtain consent where applicable before storing or reading it. • We may measure use through first-party operational events recorded on our servers. We do not currently use third-party analytics cookies on your device. • We do not currently use advertising cookies, cross-site behavioural tracking or cookies that sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. We will not place or read a non-essential cookie before obtaining any consent required by law. Refusing a non-essential technology will not prevent access to the core Service.
-
Why we use these technologies Authentication and account access We use authentication credentials and session information to sign you in, keep you signed in where you choose, refresh or end a session, and connect actions to the correct account. Depending on the deployed configuration, these credentials may be held in a secure cookie or browser storage. Security, resilience and abuse prevention Security technologies help us protect login and account flows, distinguish legitimate requests from automated or malicious traffic, apply rate limits, maintain service availability and investigate incidents. Cloudflare may set short-lived security or challenge cookies only when the relevant protection is active. Preferences and requested features We may remember choices needed to provide a feature you requested—for example, a session state, privacy or consent choice, language, accessibility option, or notification preference. Some durable preferences are stored in your account rather than on your device.
Ambassador and partner promotional offers
Ambassador and partner offers do not use cookies or persistent device identifiers. When you choose to claim a promotional offer by clicking ‘Claim offer’, a temporary identifier is stored in your browser tab’s session storage (careernavigators.promoClaim) solely to carry the requested offer through sign-up or sign-in for up to 60 minutes, after which it is removed. Merely visiting an Ambassador landing page (/p/{code}) does not create this storage or place any tracking cookie on your device. This temporary storage is used exclusively to provide functionality explicitly requested by you.
Payments and subscriptions
When you begin checkout, manage a subscription or make a payment, Stripe may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the payment flow, prevent fraud, remember checkout choices and comply with legal obligations. Stripe controls the technologies used on its own domains and may act as an independent controller for parts of that processing.
Social sign-in and external services
If you choose Google or Apple sign-in, the selected provider may store or access information needed to authenticate you. If you follow a job link, connect LinkedIn or use another external service, that service may use its own cookies after you visit or interact with it. We do not control cookies placed solely on an external service’s site.
- Current technology register The table describes the technologies expected in the current Service. A technology marked conditional is used only when you choose the relevant feature or when the relevant security control is triggered. Exact identifiers and lifetimes can vary with deployment and provider configuration.
Technology / provider Category Purpose When used Typical duration / control
-
Career Navigators / Supabase authentication Strictly necessary Creates and maintains a secure account session; refreshes or ends access; supports account recovery. When signed in or using an authentication flow. Session or persistent for the configured sign-in period; removed or invalidated on sign-out where technically possible.
-
Career Navigators preference and state storage Necessary or functional Remembers requested settings, feature state, privacy choices or consent records. When a setting or feature requires it. Session-based or retained until the setting is changed, the item expires or browser data is cleared.
-
Cloudflare security technologies Strictly necessary; conditional Protects the Service from malicious traffic, automated abuse and security threats; may preserve a challenge result. Only where the relevant Cloudflare protection or challenge is active. Usually short-lived. Examples may include __cf_bm (about 30 minutes of inactivity) or cf_clearance (configured challenge duration).
-
Platform hosting & deployment routing (__dpl) Strictly necessary Maintains deployment release consistency and asset routing during application updates. When navigating the Service. Up to 24 hours.
-
Stripe payment technologies Strictly necessary for the requested payment; conditional Operates checkout or billing, detects fraud and secures payment activity. Examples of Stripe fraud-prevention technologies include __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid and m. When you use payment, subscription or billing functionality powered by Stripe. Set and controlled by Stripe; duration varies by technology and payment context. See Stripe’s Cookie Policy.
-
Google or Apple sign-in technologies Strictly necessary for the chosen sign-in method; conditional Authenticates your identity and returns the result of the sign-in request. Only if you choose the relevant social sign-in option. Set and controlled by the selected provider; duration depends on your provider session and choices.
-
First-party operational events Server-side; not a third-party analytics cookie Measures reliability, feature operation, errors, security and aggregate use without third-party browser analytics cookies. When you use the Service. Retained under the Privacy Policy and our operational retention schedule; not necessarily stored on your device.
No current advertising or third-party analytics category There is no current entry for advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies because Career Navigators does not use them at launch. If that changes, we will update this register and introduce any consent, rejection and opt-out controls required before those technologies become active.
-
Consent and legal basis United Kingdom. UK rules generally require us to provide clear information and obtain consent before storing information on, or accessing information from, a user’s device. An exception applies where the technology is strictly necessary to transmit a communication or provide an online service the user requested. We rely on that exception only where the technology is genuinely essential. We will ask for consent before using non-essential technologies where required. United States. U.S. privacy rules vary by state. We do not currently use cookies to sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising or to process personal information for targeted advertising. If our practices change, we will provide any legally required notice, consent or opt-out method and will recognise legally required browser-based opt-out signals.
-
Your choices • Browser controls. Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies and clear local or session storage. Browser help pages explain how to do this. • Sign out. Signing out ends or invalidates the active Career Navigators session, although limited security, preference or consent records may remain for their stated period. • Social sign-in. You do not have to select a social sign-in option if another sign-in method is available. You can also manage connected-app permissions in the relevant provider account. • Payments. Stripe provides its own controls and information for cookies used in Stripe-hosted or Stripe-powered payment flows. • Future non-essential technologies. If we introduce them, a Cookie Settings control will allow you to make or change choices where required. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may stop sign-in, payments, security checks or other requested features from working. Deleting browser storage may sign you out and reset settings.
-
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track Some browsers or extensions send Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signals. Because Career Navigators does not currently use cookies for sale, sharing or targeted advertising, there is no advertising-cookie opt-out to apply. If that practice changes, we will treat recognised signals as required by applicable law. We do not respond to other Do Not Track signals where no common legal or technical standard requires a response.
-
Users aged 16 or 17 The Service is for users aged 16 or over. We apply privacy-protective defaults to known users aged 16 or 17. We do not use cookies to serve them behavioural advertising, sell their personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We aim to keep information about device technologies clear and age appropriate.
-
Third-party services and links A third party may receive information when you ask us to use its feature or leave Career Navigators for its site. This can include Stripe, Google, Apple, LinkedIn, job providers and employer websites. Their cookies, purposes, retention periods and choices are governed by their own policies. A link to an external site does not mean that Career Navigators controls the external site’s cookies.
-
Changes to this Policy We may update this Policy when the Service, providers, technology or law changes. We will post the revised version and effective date and provide additional notice where required. If we introduce a new non-essential purpose that requires consent, we will request that consent before activating it.
